Summary Overview of Global Trust
Global Trust is the leading global seafood certification body and has contracts in over 25 countries. The company’s Head Office is based in Ireland and it has support office facilities in USA, Canada and UK.
Global Trust is owned by its management and staff and is accredited to certify seafood against the worlds leading seafood standard and non seafood standards. Fishery standards include Marine Stewardship Council, FAO Responsible Fisheries Management, Responsible Fishing Schemes.
Job Summary – Fisheries Director
Operating within the Seafood Team, the Fisheries Director leads staff responsible for the fishery based assessments and certification programs.
The post holder be tasked with:

Assisting with the Global Trust Fishery Sector Business Plan

Leading Global Trust’s Fishery Based Assessment Projects
-
Maintaining the processes and controls required by Certification Programs
-
Building the Global Trust reputation by establishing professional relationships with Fishery representatives and key opinion formers within stakeholder groups

Providing a point of contact and centre of excellence for fishery assessment and certification related issues.

Utilising their technical skills and working with colleagues, to coordinate required assessments and inform stakeholders about these processes
Summary of necessary skills

An excellent communicator with excellent relationship building skills

Excellent knowledge of fishery science and related issues.

Ability to manage a team, develop team members? skills and delegate tasks effectively.

Ability to communicate effectively to colleagues and senior managers.
Summary of Minimum Requirements
-
Minimum of ten years experience in a fishery science, fisheries management or similar role.

Experience of Fishery Certification Standards
-
Strategic planning skills and experience of leading and managing a team to deliver on key objectives
-
Proven ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
