Global Trust wins new Canadian MSC Contracts and rapidly establishing its competence as a shellfish certifier. (Date:23 December 2011)
In addition to two new bivalve fishery MSC announcements, Global Trust is already assessing snow crab fisheries in Nova Scotia and Gulf of St. Lawrence for the Association of Seafood Producers of Nova Scotia. Dave Garforth of Global Trust noted that ‘it makes good sense for Global Trust to focus on bivalve and crustacean fisheries. We have been involved in mussel, oyster and crab certification for many years under various National and International Programs. We understand the dynamics of enhanced bivalve fisheries, having worked in certification and benchmarking programs for industries in Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Crab fisheries have already been a focus of both national vessel certification programmes we are involved in as well as different fishery certifications such as MSC.
