Global Trust goes live with the Alaska Seafood Chain of Custody Certification Standard (Date:29 June 2011)
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has formally agreed the Chain of Custody Standard for the FAO based Responsible Fisheries Management and this service is now available through Global Trust.
Companies that wish to claim “Sourced from a Certified Alaska fishery” will now have the opportunity to do so by certification to this new standard.
All applications to this standard will be processed by the program's certification body - Global Trust. Global Trust has already received a number of expressions of interest from supply cahin members wishing to participate and gain certification to this standard.
To date, Alaska Salmon and Halibut Fisheries have received their full FAO-based Certification, and further fishery applications have been submitted by ASMI for Alaska Black Cod, Alaska Pollock, and Alaska Crab.
